Get the chance of win cash prizes of up to GHc 2,000 from this year’s Blooming Minds Youth Writers Awards.

The creative writing awards is open to children between the ages of 6 and 15 in two difference categories.

For children between 6 and 9 years, you need to put together a short story or poetry of about 300 words while those between 9 and 15 years are to put together fiction or non-fiction writeups of about 500 words. Both pieces must be based on a African setting.

The winner in the first categories takes home GHc750 with the runner-up taking GHc500. For the second category, the winner gets to win GHc 2,000 and GHc1,000 for the runner up.


Entry forms for the competition are available for GHc20. Entries open from Thursday, 1st September, 2016.

The awards is aimed at Promoting writing culture in schools and raising a new wave of young African authors.

Winners to be announced in December 2016.
